Serving Mid & South Bay San Diego

Service policies

How this works, in full.

Access, dogs, weather, billing and everything else, written out so you can read it before you book rather than find it out afterwards.

Where we serve

Poovera serves Mid and South Bay San Diego: Imperial Beach, Coronado, National City, Chula Vista, San Ysidro, Bonita, La Mesa, Lemon Grove, and the San Diego neighborhoods along the route — La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Clairemont, University City, Serra Mesa, Tierrasanta, downtown, Del Cerro and Otay Mesa.

We take work outside that area too. The route is where most of our week is spent, so those addresses are the easiest to schedule.

Your service day

Your yard is assigned a day and keeps it. There’s no window to wait through, and you don’t need to be home.

You can ask for a particular day when you book. We’ll try to fit it in, though the route decides the final schedule — you’ll know your day before the first visit either way.

Need to move a visit? Ask, and we’ll do our best to fit it in. We only ask that changes stay occasional — a settled route is what keeps visits arriving on time and keeps prices where they are.

If we ever need to change your day, you’ll hear it from us before the visit rather than after.

Getting into the yard

Safe gate access is all we need. We don’t enter through the house, and nobody needs to be home.

If we arrive and can’t get in — a locked gate, a blocked gate, or a dog loose in the yard — we’ll come back and try again. Things happen, and not every circumstance is in your control.

If we still can’t get in on that second attempt, and the reason is something on your end, the visit counts as completed. We made two trips for it. The waste left behind is cleared on your next regular visit at no extra cost.

If you already know something will block us — a repair, a delivery, a lock that changed — tell us ahead of time and we’ll adjust the route around it.

Dogs during the visit

We like dogs. It’s most of the reason we do this.

Large dogs, and any dog with aggressive tendencies, should be inside or away from the yard during the visit. That’s about getting the job done safely and thoroughly, not about the dog.

For friendly dogs, please be there for the first visit or two. An introduction with you present lets your dog get used to us in a good setting, and after that we can usually work around each other happily.

We’ll always say hello and give your dog some attention. We just can’t spend long doing it — there are other yards waiting.

If we arrive to a dog we haven’t met and nobody is home, we won’t enter the yard until the dog is inside or otherwise away.

Weather

We work through light rain and cold.

When the weather is genuinely unsafe — lightning, high wind, flooding — we adjust the route and come back for the missed visits as soon as it’s safe to be out. The visit isn’t lost, it moves.

Holidays

We don’t run the route on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving or Christmas Day.

If your day lands on one, we’ll usually come earlier that week instead. If that isn’t possible, you’re back on your normal day the following week.

Pausing service

Tell us at least 24 hours before your scheduled day to arrange a skip or vacation hold. Your regular day is kept for you. A pause does not automatically refund a period you’ve already paid for; the refund rule below applies.

Waste keeps building while you’re away, so a long pause may mean the visit after it is quoted as a catch-up rather than a regular visit. We’ll tell you before that happens.

Cancelling

There’s no minimum term and no cancellation fee. You can cancel future renewals at any time through the Manage your plan link or by contacting us. Cancel before your next billing date to stop the next charge.

Once a week or other recurring service period is paid for, it is not refunded after we have made a visit in that period. Cancelling stops future renewals, and the remaining paid visits are still available.

There is one cancellation-refund exception: if we have not made any visit in the paid period and you give us at least 24 hours’ notice before its first scheduled visit, we will cancel that period and refund its payment. Contact us to arrange the refund; cancelling in the payment portal does not issue it automatically.

Billing and payment

Your card is kept on file and charged before the work, not after. We bill by the stretch of service rather than by the individual visit.

Weekly, twice weekly and three times weekly plans are charged once a week, before that week’s visits — so a twice weekly plan is one charge covering both visits, not two. Every other week and monthly plans have a single visit in each period, so those are charged before each visit.

Your first service period is charged when you book. On every recurring plan, the initial cleanup itself is included at no extra cost.

Because payment comes first, there’s never a balance to fall behind on, and there are no late fees. If a card is declined we’ll let you know, and the visit waits until the payment goes through.

If an adjustment is owed after a visit — a first cleanup that came in higher than quoted, for instance — and it goes unpaid, we’ll pause service until it’s settled.

Your first cleanup

The first visit to a new yard is a cleanup priced by how much has built up. It’s free on every recurring plan — three times weekly, twice weekly, weekly, every other week, and monthly — when you pay for your first period.

The price you’re quoted is based on what you tell us about the yard. We check it before the first visit. If the yard is in a different state than you described, we adjust the price to match — up or down — and we always tell you before we start any work.

Your regular visit price isn’t affected by any of this. It’s set by your yard, your dogs and how often we come.

What we clear

We remove dog waste and bag it. The bag goes into your own outdoor bin before we leave.

Loose stool included. We’ll make a note of it, and if we come across anything that looks unusual we’ll let you know. It’s often the first sign that something is up with a dog, and it isn’t something we’d leave unmentioned.

We work where we can reasonably see and reach. If there’s waste somewhere we can’t get to — under a deck, deep in brush, behind something we can’t safely move — we’ll tell you where it is rather than leave you to find it later.

Price changes

We’ll give you at least 30 days notice before changing your rate.

If the number of dogs changes, or the yard changes in a way that affects the work, we’ll requote and tell you before the new price applies.

Property and liability

We take care in your yard. Poovera isn’t responsible for pre-existing damage, for lawn wear along the paths we walk, or for items left out in the service area.

If we damage something, tell us and we’ll make it right.

Texts and emails

We text you about your service — a heads-up before a visit, a note if we couldn’t get in, and any schedule changes.

Reply STOP to any message to opt out. We don’t send marketing texts.

Your information

We keep your name, address, contact details and service history so we can run your route and your account.

Card details are held by our payment processor, not by us. We don’t sell your information. We share information only with providers used to run the site and your service, including analytics.

Photos

We send you a photo of your closed gate after each visit, so you know the yard was cleared and the gate was shut without having to go and check.

If there’s something else you’d like photographed, just ask and we’ll include it. We don’t use photos of your property in advertising without asking you first.

Changes to these policies

We may update this page. We’ll tell you directly about anything that affects your price or your schedule.
